FAQs

Can a contactless purchase be made without my knowledge?

Your card has to be extremely close to the reader – typically between two and four centimeters and the retailer must have first entered the amount for you to approve.  The card reader cannot be activated by you simply passing by.

Can I add my card to my phone wallet?

Yes! Simply log in to your Hawaii State FCU Mobile App and click the ‘Add to Wallet’ icon or manually input your card information into your Mobile Wallet for registration.

Can I balance transfer between cards?

Balance transfers are not permitted on internal HSFCU cards however, you may request a balance transfer from a non-HSFCU card with no balance transfer fee. This may be done via card services in online banking, visiting a branch or contacting Cardholder Services at (866-820-6821).

Can NortonLifeLock™ remove cardholders’ personal data from the dark web?

Unfortunately, no. The content on the dark web is not centralized and is owned by many different (usually anonymous) owners. Only the owner of the content can remove or modify the content.

Can you further explain the 2.50% and 1.25% Reward Structure?

Certainly! All net purchases, up to $5,000 every billing cycle, will earn our industry-leading 2.50% cash back rewards. Any amounts over $5,000 will earn rewards at 1.25% without affecting previous rewards you’ve already earned. Once your next billing cycle begins you will begin to earn 2.50% again up to another $5,000. This means you could earn 2.50% on up to $60,000 in purchases per year!

Spend Example: $6,000 in net purchases over one Billing Cycle

Spend Tier Earn Rate Cashback Earned
First $5,000 2.5% $5,000 x 2.50% = $125.00
$5,001 – $6,000 1.25% $1,000 x 1.25% = $12.50

How can cardholders be sure the personal data they enter for Dark Web Monitoring is not used or sold by NortonLifeLock™ employees?

Any personal data is encrypted. Only a few selected employees who undergo training on how to handle personal data can access it. These employees must provide their own unique credentials every time they access personal data and are subject to monitoring by our Information Security and Compliance team. See the NortonLifeLockTM Global Privacy Statement for additional details.

Personal data is stored and managed by an advanced secure cloud database, which is encrypted and protected with multiple layers of security measures.

How long does it take to receive my card?

Your physical card should arrive within 7-10 days. However, generally within 2 days of your card being approved an option will appear in online banking to digitally add your card to your wallet! This means you can spend and start earning rewards before your physical card arrives.

If a cardholder receives an alert, what should they do next?

Each alert will include information about next steps. Specifics vary by type of alert.

Is tapping to pay secure?

Yes! Your contactless card uses the same secure encryption technology as standard EMV chip cards, but in a contactless method.  Each transaction is accompanied by security data that securely protects your payment information.

What are some common triggers for dark web, credit, and data breach notifications?

A cardholder’s personal information detected on the dark web, a hard credit check, or an update to a cardholder’s credit file are a few examples. Data breach notifications are sent regarding large data breaches that may impact consumers.

What is a contactless card?

Your Hawaii State FCU credit cards have an embedded microchip that provides stronger security and protection against fraud when you pay in-person.  This chip uses short-range wireless technology to make secure payments between a contactless card and a contactless-enabled checkout terminal.
