Hawaii State FCU recently presented a combined total of $37,500 to two local nonprofits focused on basic necessities and affordable housing access.
The donations were made possible through Hawaii State FCU and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines) Member Impact Fund, a matching grant program that amplifies the impact of financial institutions working to strengthen their communities.
Hawaii State FCU employees voted Hawaii Meals on Wheels to be the recipient of the credit union’s Giving Tuesday initiative. A $5,000 donation was presented in support of their mission to provide nutritious meals and essential services to kupuna and individuals with disabilities across Oahu.
Through our donation and the contributions of our employees, members, vendor partners, and friends we were able to exceed our goal and raised over $111,000 through our Hawaii State FCU Virtual Food Drive Campaign for the Maui Food Bank. Together, we provided much-needed support, food assistance and hope to those in need on Maui.
In support of our family and friends on Maui, Hawaii State FCU presented a $25,000 donation to the Salvation Army Maui for the continued recovery of the communities impacted by the devastating 2023 wildfires.
Hawaii State FCU is a proud supporter of Parents and Children Together (PACT), which provides a safe environment and desperately needed social services to Hawaii’s most vulnerable residents.
Since 2013, Hawaii State FCU has donated more than $300,000 to support Friends of the Library (FLH) and its mission to maintain free public libraries. As title sponsor of FLH’s Annual Booksale, our member preview nights have brought in nearly $100,000 in additional sales to support reading programs in Hawaii. We also continue to be a presenting sponsor of the nonprofit’s pop-up bookstore at Ward Centre.
We are proud of our continued efforts to fight hunger in Hawaii through our 2022 Food Drive, in which we raised $12,500 and collected nearly 2,800 pounds of food for the Hawaii Foodbank, thanks to our generous members and employees. The monetary total includes a matching donation pledged by Hawaii State FCU in honor of the credit union surpassing its Food Drive goals.
We believe in the power of education to transform lives. Since 1996, our Scholarship Program has awarded over $1 million to deserving Hawaii students to pursue their higher education.
Our Investing in Education grant helps teachers in the State of Hawaii Department of Education obtain much-needed supplies for their classrooms.
